New Shock For The Blur

Since the rebound adjustment knob fell out in my hand last week I figured I should probably replace or rebuild the shock for the blur. Since Progressive has left the mtb market I really couldn’t see dumping money into a shock that has a limited shelf life at best. Luckily for me Santa Cruz still had some of their $99 shocks for sale. I was able to pick up a brand new Manitou 3 way as a replacement. I’m eager to see how this shock rides. It’s got a similar SPV system as my old 5th element. In fact upon close examination of the new shock it actually mentions that the shock uses technology licensed from progressive. I’m curious to see how similar the shocks actually ride.

Last night when I got home I found my new shock had arrived. It only took me a few minutes to get it installed and ready to ride. Hopefully next week I’ll get to take the bike out and see how the new shock compares.

I think sometime in the next few months I’ll order up a new Fox rp23 to replace the 5th on the 5.5. It’s not that I dislike the 5th by any means it’s just that I’m not all that keen on running a shock that may not be supported when I need it…. I’m not a huge fan of using end of life products.3wayshock.gif
