Hombre,

Good comments. Good thoughts. I too enjoy driving as well as riding.

I have some observations that may lend some insight to the car issue.

I have recognized in myself, at my worst moments behind the wheel, a tendency to be highly judgmental of people who for instance, cut me off, turn without signaling, or commit other grievous errors, that cause affront or offense to me, or pose risk to others. In feeling this way, I completely ignore the fact that I may, no, I have done, the very same thing possibly many times in the past.

I believe in my experience as a driver of 35 or so years, and that I'm a just and reasonable person. Add to that, the sense of control and empowerment one feels behind the wheel, and for some people it becomes a heady brew of righteousness.

Add to that a state of hurried anxiety, a little too much coffee, maybe an overbearing boss, frustration, and we get anger. The power of the horses under the hood provides an immediate and gratifying expression of this anger; surge of power, revving engine, etc.

Recognizing this tendency to forget my own transgressions has enabled me to chill behind the wheel; pull out of the way when tailgated, and not point the finger at someone else's mistakes.

I think this tendency is intrinsic to driving a car. And only self awareness can mitigate it.

You know you would think it would be an issue but I haven't really noticed the lack of flash when it comes to day to day surfing. I am starting to think that Flash's days are numbered in any event. HTML5 looks like it may be the future.

Very cool - this alone might justify buying one! My biggest beef right now is lack of Flash support - too much web content relies on flash these days, so this leaves a BIG hole in the surfing experience...

Ahh Dude! - you're making me all nostalgic and s&^%!!.

Seriously - we need to get back in those old riding habits and start adding to those memories. Any interest in starting up our old Early Bird rides - either as a group ride or just the two of us again? I'm getting up to take Robert to 5:30am practice 5 days a week now - with proper motivation I could be out riding instead of going back home and crawling back in bed!

Perhaps the CK Steelset with longer cups would be advisable?

So, how is that hub holding up? The lacing looks great, but since that was June, I'm sure it's been through it since.
